Arora thanks Railway Minister for taking Ludhiana Station in first Phase
AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora attended virtual foundation stone laying ceremony of redevelopment project of Ludhiana railway station under Amrit Station Yojna by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. He was invited for the event by Sanjay Sahu, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ferozepur. The Ludhiana railway station was one among total 508 railway stations across the country, which were virtually inaugurated under Amrit Station Yojna by Prime Minister today. All these railway stations are be redeveloped, leading to a significant transformation of rail infrastructure in India.

He was invited for the event by Sanjay Sahu, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ferozepur. Speaking on the occasion, Arora said after he became MP from Ludhiana, he met Minister for railways Ashwini Vaishnaw and requested him to renovate the existing railway station at Ludhiana which was established by Britishers. He added the Minister for Railways informed him that Ludhiana and some other railway stations across the country are to be redeveloped in two phases. Then, he made a request to Railway Minister to include Ludhiana in first phase of redevelopment. “I am grateful to Railway Minister for acceding to me request and starting work of development of Ludhiana railway station, which was a dire need of the time”, said Arora.
Arora further said that it is really a proud moment for Ludhiana that of the total amount of about Rs.1100 Crores on 17 stations being spent on redevelopment of railway stations in Ferozepur Division a sum of about Rs.500 Crore are being spent on redevelopment of Ludhiana railway station. He said state-of-the-art facilities are being provided at Ludhiana railway station. He said he had been told by DRM Sanjay Sahu that Ludhiana railway station would be completed by 2025. “But, I have requested him to get Ludhiana railway station competed by 2024 in the larger public interest”, said Arora. He also said in Dhandari station now regularly some passenger trains will stop reducing the burden on main railway station.
Arora said Ludhiana railway station after redevelopment will not be less than an airport because the facilities available there will be at par with that of an airport.
On the occasion, Arora distributed certificates to schoolchildren who won prizes in essay competition.
