Arora visits Civil Hospital to review progress of upgradation
MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora took a round of Civil Hospital here on Friday, to review the progress of ongoing development works there.
Ludhiana, March 15, 2024: MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora took a round of Civil Hospital here on Friday, to review the progress of ongoing development works there.
On the occasion, he also held a detailed discussion with the concerned officials of the Department of Health. Among others, Civil Surgeon Dr Jasbir Singh Aulakh and SMO Dr Mandeep Sidhu were present in the meeting. It may be mentioned here that as a larger initiative by the state government, Arora along with the Health Ministry under the leadership of Chief Minister, Punjab Bhagwant Mann have been conducting regular meetings for the upgradation and improvement of District Hospitals in Ludhiana and other parts of the state. The survey and planning work for these hospitals has already been completed and the work of Civil Hospital, Ludhiana has already started.
Arora asked the concerned to complete the ongoing development works as early as possible. He asked the his team to complete the work of boundary wall, which needs plaster, glass and paint work. He also asked them to complete work of tiles on the hospital walls and toilets etc. He said he was really shocked to know that the hospital’s lifts were not working for the last about twelve years. He said the existing lifts would be made functional as early as possible for convenience of the patients and their attendants. He was apprised that there was also a need of another lift in the hospital. Arora said he would do the needful done for installation of the required lift in the hospital premises.
During this meeting, Arora asked the officials concerned to apprise him about the pending important works from time to time. On this, he was told that the hospital’s sewerage system needs to be revamped as it remained blocked most of the time. Arora assured to replace the existing sewerage with the newer one in the neqr future. He asked his team members to make a detailed report for replacing the existing sewerage work. He was apprised that the problem of sewerage blockage was existing for the last about 10 years after work of expansion of the hospital building started.
Further, Arora was apprised that some portion of ceiling of the hospital building gets leak. The issue of a large number of rodents in the hospital premises was also taken up in the meeting. Arora was told that the main reason of this problem was an existing huge dump in the hospital’s backyards. On this, Arora contacted over phone the Municipal Commissioner Ludhiana Sandeep Rishi to resolve the issue of dump. Arora assured that the problem of rodents would be completely solved. He also assured to resolve the problem of leakage of some portion of ceiling of the hospital.
Arora also assured to pave internal roads of the hospital for convenience of patients visiting to the hospital on wheelchairs. The issue of defunct centralised AC room was also discussed to find out a permanent solution.
When Arora was apprised that some development works were withheld due to non-release of funds to a private contractor, Arora on-the-spot took up this matter with over phone with the Punjab Health Systems Corporation managing director Varinder Kumar Sharma. He also took up the matter of understaffing of the hospital with Sharma.
During discussion, Arora suggested the officials to encourage treatment of the patients under Ayushman Scheme. He further suggested the officials to set up a special counter in the hospital premises for convenience of the patients to go for Ayushman Scheme. The Civil Surgeon Dr Jasbir Singh Aulakh apprised Arora that around 4 lakh patients visit the hospital on annual basis for getting their treatment. Arora strictly asked the hospital authorities to maintain complete hygienic conditions in the hospital.
