ASC Hockey Team of Indian Army back to “Sports City of India”

Jalandhar, February 23, 2022: The prestigious Army Service Corps (ASC) Hockey Team of Indian Army is back to the “Sports City of India” Jalandhar, a city that has blessed the country with some of the greatest hockey players, who have brought glory and laurels to the Indian Army and the country by winning National & International Competitions. During its stay from1975 to 2001 the team had a golden era and it earned a unique place in national sporting pantheons by winning prestigious tournaments like Army Hockey Cup, Guru Teg Bahadur Gold Cup, Bombay Gold Cup, Beighton Cup, Aga Khan Tournament, Obidullah Gold Cup and Surjit Singh Gold Cup. The ASC hockey team has been the nursery for outstanding Olympians like Brig Harcharan Singh, VSM, Col Balbir Singh, VSM, Capt Romeo James, Hav Manual Fredrick & Hav SV Sunil. They have all made India proud.
On arrival at Jalandhar a reception was organised and the team was welcomed by Olympian Brig Harcharan Singh, VSM & Col Balbir Singh, VSM. With Army Service Corps Hockey Team back to the city it is inevitable that the legacy of ASC Corps Team will be revived to its past glory.
