Rousing reception being accorded to Asian games bronze medal winner Ranjit Singh on his return to home at Ferozepur.
Ferozepur, October 4, 2014: A warm welcome was given to Ranjit Singh, a member of Bronze Medal Winning Indian Rowing Team in Asian Games held at Incheon, South Korea.
Ranjit Singh was welcomed by the officials from 13th Sikh Regiment of Indian Army with garlands and Army bands. Kamal Sharma, President, Punjab BJP, Sandeep Singh Gerha, SDM, Ferozepur, Sunil Kumar, District Sports Officer, Ferozepur especially reached to welcome Ranjit Singh and heartily congratulate him for his success and for bringing laurels to this border region.
Besides them, the parents, relatives and friends of Ranjit Singh from his native Village Thatha Kishan Singh also had come for his welcome.
A sword and a shawl was given as token of honour by the BJP Punjab President to Ranjit Singh and wished him good luck for his future endeavor.
Sunil Kumar, District Sports Officer said that Ranjit Singh has brought laurels and cheers to the residents of this backward border area. "He was always a fighter who fought against all odds and won", said DSO, adding, the district administration shall soon arrange a huge function to celebrate this victory. Ranjit Singh was also a member of Silver Medal winning team in 2010 Asian Games.
