Assembly Elections 2022: Police and excise department launch crackdown against illicit liquor

Nawanshahr, February 7, 2022: The Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Police and excise teams today jointly launched a major crackdown against anti-social elements and people indulged in manufacturing illicit liquor thus seizing 910 litres lahan and 35.25 litres illicit liquor in Mand area of Rahon and Aur adjoining to Satluj River.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson said that police teams led by Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur along with SP  Iqbal Singh, DSP Lakhvir Singh, SHOs Rahon and Aur police stations, ETO Raj Kumar and sleuths from drone team and conducted a search operation in Bairsaal and Burj Tehal villages with the help of the drones and boats. He said that the teams recovered 910 litres lahan and 35.25 litres illicit liquor .

He said that separate four cases have been registered under sections 61,1 and 14 of Excise Act in this regard at Rahon Police Station.

The spokesperson said that the crackdown against illicit liquor would be intensified in coming days and strict action would be initiated against those found indulged in this malpractice.
