Jalandhar, April 22, 2018: Every chess master was once a beginner. Keeping this in mind and in order to make future chess champions, Jalandhar Chess Association (JCA) organised a two day chess tournament at CT World School, Shahpur.
The tournament was closed by Mr.Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group, Mr.Harpreet Singh, Vice Chairman, JCA President Dr.J S Cheema and General Secretary Mr.Muneesh Thapar.

The tournament was being held under seven different categories, U-9, U-13, U-17 (each open and girls separate) and U-25 (Open). More than 100 players from the city participated in this tournament. Players played five tough rounds and the winners managed to bag the top positions. U-9 Om Arya Aggarwal and Rushil jain wins first and second position respectively, U-9 Girls Shresthi Gupta wins first and Amaira Mittal wins second position, U-17 Dhirain Vij and Aditya jain win first and second position, U-17 Girls Simran Rode and Lavanaya wins First and second position respectively, U-13 Open Ayaan Sabharwal wins first and Singh Dimpalvir win Second Position, U-13 Girls Tushita Chopra wins first and Gunjan kanda bags second position, U-25 open Anshul Mehta got first position and Dushyant Sharma bags second Position respectively and Atrhav Verma Bags Best Youngest Title.

Telling about the event, General Secretary of JCA, Mr. Muneesh Thapar said, “This was the first tournament of the year which was being played as Swiss League System under latest FIDE Laws. This was a selection tournament for Punjab state championship. Winners will now represent Jalandhar district in the coming Punjab state chess tournament in respective categories.”

Mr. Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group congratulated the winners and also lauded the efforts of JCA for organizing this event of great interest and said that such events increases the power of thinking and reasoning of the players and make them more witty and active.
