Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Wednesday appealed to the people to avoid stepping out unnecessarily and strictly observe Covid-19 appropriate behaviour even after getting the vaccine for preventing the third wave of coronavirus.
Addressing the Ludhiana residents in his weekly Facebook live session on the official page of DPRO Ludhiana, the Deputy Commissioner said that crowding must be avoided and people must wear a mask, maintain social distancing, wash hands frequently and get vaccine immediately to build herd immunity.
He said that as per doctors, the third wave may hit due to violations of COVID-19 protocols by the people and if we follow the rules and get a life-saving jab, we can prevent the wave.
Reiterating the need for the people to get vaccinated immediately, Varinder Kumar Sharma said the vaccine is a shield in the fight against the pandemic and there is a stock of 25000 doses of vaccine with Ludhiana besides holding 178 inoculation camps.
He said that that vaccination against COVID-19 is critical to breaking the chain of transmission and the administration has already stepped up the pace of vaccination to cover a maximum number of people expeditiously.
The DC also exhorted people to come forward for the vaccination in huge numbers especially encouraging youths and their parents in the camps so that further maximize the coverage.
