Ludhiana, September 18, 2012: An auto-rickshaw driver from Bathinda was worried that for want of funds, his perspective player son Gourav Kashyap may not be able to participate in the International competition.

On the other hand, in the Industrial hub of economically progressive Ludhiana city, all of a sudden it came across in the mind of Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Onkar Singh Pahwa as to how such hidden talents in the down trodden situations can be helped and brought  to light, who have the talents, but due to financial constraints or for want of help  of some supporting hand, unable to come to the deserving status.

Onkar Singh Pahwa shared this idea with his Board of Directors, who supported for this noble cause with their positive opinion   and decided to establish  Avon Cycles Sports Club so that prospective players like Gourav are not  deprived of  bringing  laurels for the country.

Chairman of Avon Cycles Limited, made this point public at a press conference today.

Pahwa further told that his sons Rishi Pahwa and Mandeep Pahwa would also assist him to handle the activities of this Sports Club.

“The main purpose of forming the Sports Club is only that the financially unpriviledged talented sportsmen and women are not left behind to show their talent merely for want of monetary help”, he revealed.

He said Gourav did not have the money for getting his passport ready and to visit out of country to participate in the International games.

“Though he was honoured with Medal in the International competition, yet he could not even make it possible to participate in the game judo-karate in the International competition in Malaysia”, he said, adding Avon Cycles  Sports Club come to know this fact only from the game lovers and understanding this heart rendering fact, made such arrangements that Gourav would now be able to participate in International Judo – karate competition in Bhutan on September 21.

Further, Pahwa told that the newly formed Avon Cycles Sports Club is not to get support from any NGO or government institution for inventing perspective sportsmen and women.

He said executive of the Sports Club would check the authenticity of the hidden talents  in all corners of Punjab and after making themselves satisfied with the talents and the financial backgrounds, would support the needy so that nation could feel proud on  their achievements on national as well as international levels.

On the occasion, Gaurav was handed over a cheque of Rs. 10,000 and a sports kit.
