Award Ceremony of Kart Design Challenge at GNA University

Jalandhar, February 28, 2019: GNA University culminated the 5 days “Kart Design Challenge 2019” powered by Spur Motorsports Pvt Ltd and hosted by GNA University and supported by GNA Group of Industries under the benign presence of the Chief Guest, Mr.I V Rao, the Executive Advisor of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd from February 24- 28, 2019. Kart Design Challenge, an intercollegiate automotive design competition for the undergraduate and graduate engineering students witnessed the massive participation of more than 600+ students from across the Nation to design and fabricate a Go-Kart during these 5 days competition. The “Kart Design Challenge” commenced with the Lamp lighting ceremony done by worthy Chief Guest, Mr.I V Rao, the Executive Advisor of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. and the Guest of Honour, Mr. K S Dhodhi, the Executive Director Works, SML, Isuzu along with CEO of SMPL and the host Team of GNA University. During the address of the worthy Chief Guest, Mr.I V Rao, the Executive Advisor of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. to the august gathering, he said, “I am really happy to see the willingness of the participants to design, innovate and experiment with their technical skills.” The Guest of Honour, Mr. K S Dhodhi, the Executive Director Works, SML, Isuzu addressed to the gathering and expressed, “I am excited to witness the budding youth of Kart Design Challenge who have made an extra effort to learn, unlearn and relearn.” The award ceremony of “Kart Design Challenge” commenced with the live Sufi performance of “Afreen Group of Punjab” who have the top 3 participants of the Rising Star and have established their name across the world. Further, the Chief Guest & the Guest of Honour along with the CEO of SMPL and the Pro-Chancellor, GNA University awarded the winning teams of 23 categories. In total awards of Rs 6 lakhs were extended to the winners comprising of Static, Dynamic and Special Category awards. The overall trophy was bagged by the team from VIT, Pune. S. Gurdeep Singh, CEO GNA Gears and Pro- Chancellor, GNA University said, “Hosting Kart Design Challenge in which teams from PAN India is participating is a grandiose out of the classroom learning. This event has not only rendered a huge platform to the budding engineers to enhance their technical skills but has also provided them with a flavour of National level competitive spirit.” Prof. Dr. V.K. Rattan Vice-Chancellor, GNA University in his Welcome Address briefed the budding participants about the “Kart Design Challenge” and acknowledged the presence of the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. He said, “Kart Design Challenge has helped the participants in bridging the gap between practical skills and academics imbibed via classroom teaching.” All the judges from renowned companies of the world, the faculty members from various institutions as well as the event sponsors were duly acknowledged with the souvenir from GNA University. Special Awards under Sardar Amar Trust were also given to the 2 participating teams from GNA University for their hard endeavours in designing the kart on their own under the stewardship of their faculty mentors. The event was duly witnessed by the techno youth of around 600+ from almost all the states of India and the representatives from SMPL & team GNA University and GNA Group of Industries along with the elite gathering of members from across the city.
