Awareness against waste segregation
KMV organises an awareness drive by flagging off e-rickshaw for creating awareness amongst city residents regarding waste segregation in collaboration with Municipal Corporation
Jalandhar, August 7, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) in collaboration with Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar flagged off e-rickshaw and also promoted an awareness campaign to sensitise the public about waste segregation.
The flag off ceremony was done by Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi along with other faculty members and students. The e-rickshaw was driven to different parts of the city with small halts in specific localities for creating door to door awareness drive based on the theme ‘Kude dee Vand jarooi Hai majboori nayee’ (segregation is essential and not a compulsion). KMV has initiated the drive focused on Source Segregation as part of the research project titled "Developing Low Cost Teaching Aids and Promoting Sustainable Waste Management- Swachh Bharat Paradigms" which is sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, National Council for Science and Technology Communication (DST-NCSTC) -Government of India, New Delhi to Dr.Pardeep Arora ( PI) and Dr. Harpreet Kaur ( Co-PI)- KMV. Under this drive students from PG Department of Fashion Designing, Political Science and NSS volunteers of KMV participated with full zeal and fervour. During the event, Municipal Corporation representative and officers in charge enlightened the student about National Green Tribunal and MSW Rules 2016 as well as about the ongoing efforts of the corporation to keep Jalandhar city a waste free. This initiative is being carried under guidance of Goutam Jain, Commissioner, MCJ and IEC in charge officer, Assistant Health Officer Mrs Sumita Aboral, CF Amandeep and Ramanpreet, IEC activity expert and also in-charge of green sparrow project.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV has always been taking various initiatives as the institution aims to contribute for clean & green Jalandhar in all the possible ways. She further maintained that KMV keeps on organising such awareness activities from time to time in order to make the students feel responsible towards environment conservation. She lauded the efforts of Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Ashima Sahni and Harleen for successfully organizing the event.
