Awareness camp in Patna to discuss micro laparoscopic surgery for treatment of gall stones

Patna: Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket organized a press conference in Patna today to create awareness around micro-laparoscopic surgeries and its various benefits for patients with diseases like gall bladder stones and hernia. Laparoscopy has largely been accepted as a treatment method in various gastrointestinal diseases.

Present at the event was Dr Pradeep Chowbey,Chairman - MAMBS & Allied Surgical Specialties, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, spoke about efficiency of the process in treatment of conditions such as gall stone removal and hernia and how it can benefit the people of Patna and nearby areas to avail highly advanced treatment instead of the traditionally used methods.

During his address to the audience, Dr Pradeep Chowbey, Chairman - MAMBS & Allied Surgical Specialties, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, said “Our endeavor is to continuously work to bring the latest and the best medical practices for our patients. We essentially invest in the latest technology to make sure that patient’s hospital stay is minimalized, and the recovery is faster. This latest technology of micro-laparoscopy is a pin-hole surgery and leaves almost no scars, while it takes not more than 30 mins for the entire procedure. People suffering from various abdominal diseases should feel relieved as this process unlike others does not require them to stay for more than one day in the hospital. Obesity (more than 10% in Bihar), disturbed meal cycles, stress, anxiety, GERD are major reasons for such diseases and people must opt for healthy lifestyle choices.”

This pin-hole surgery procedure is essentially designed to improve efficiency of the surgery as compared to the traditional method of using a 3.5 mm-5 mm laparoscopic instrument. And with this new pin-hole technique people can be rest assured of experiencing no pain, scars or any critical infections. At a time when incidences of diseases like gall bladder stone, hernia and other issues like involving the intestine and liver, etc are on a rise, this advancement aims at reducing both treatment and recovery time for the patient.

According to a research published in the International Journal of Scientific study, the incidence of gall bladder stones in India was found to be the highest among people between the age group of 41- 50, approximately,26.7%. Bihar being one of the most important states of the nation contributes majorly to these numbers of high incidences of gastrointestinal diseases. With availability of advanced treatment methods, people no longer need to sustain pain and uneasiness.

The quest to minimize pain and scarring from surgical access has led to the development of micro-laparoscopy as an alternative to routine laparoscopic procedure.   The aim is to minimize the invasiveness of this procedure by reducing the number and, more commonly, the size of the operating ports (puncture holes) and instruments.

Over the past years, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket has been actively working towards ensuring international standard healthcare facilities. The unit has held numerous awareness camps, health-camps and OPDs across North India.
