Awareness drive on single use plastic cum plantation drive organised by Laxmi Bai Hall, Panjab University

Chandigarh, July 9, 2022: Laxmi Bai Hall(GH2) organised an awareness drive on single use plastic cum plantation drive for the hostel residents and staff. An expert lecture by Prabhu Nath Shahi who is Ex. Forest Officer and retired Flight Engineer of IAF is working for saving the environment through his foundation Jai Madhusudan Jai Shri Krishna Foundation.
The objective of the lecture was to make students aware about the drawbacks of single use plastic and to encourage them to imbibe new behaviours that are conducive for building a safe environment for living. The program concluded with oath taken by students to save their environment and distribution of plants among the students. A plantation drive was also conducted where in the students adopted the plants and promised to take care of them. They were also encouraged to handover the responsibility of their plant to new residents whenever they leave the hostel.
Shahi encouraged the students regarding active participation in plantation and stop the use of plastics.
