Awareness lectures held for prevention of heart attack

Ludhiana, November 8, 2019: In the series of conducting health awareness sessions Hero DMC Heart Institute has recently conducted cardiac awareness lectures in various school of the city including BVM, Sacred Heart, KVM to encourage the students to adopt healthy eating habits and healthy life style.
The lectures were conducted under the leadership of Dr Shibba Takkar Chhabra (Associate Professor of Cardiology) Hero DMC Heart Institute. She interacted with the students and highlighted the importance of healthy eating habits for good health.
In his address, Secretary Prem Kumar Gupta Gupta said that DMCH has been regularly conducting major health awareness sessions for raising awareness among people to lead a healthy and balanced lifetysle and always committed in providing affordable healthcare to the people of the region.
In her address Dr Shibba said that young people suffered from heart attack due to the wrong medication, intake of more energy drinks, flavoured hukkas and use of energy drinks and whey proteins. She further explained that stress is also the most common factor leading to heart attack.
Dr Shibba further explained the risk factors of heart attack among the women that females are more prone to getting heart attack as compared to male person. The most common heart attack symptom in women is some type of pain, pressure or discomfort in the chest but sometimes, women may get a heart attack without any complaint of chest pain and may observed following symptoms such as pain in neck, jaw, shoulder, upper back or abdominal discomfort, shortness of breath, pain in one or both arms, nausea and vomiting.
These sessions were informative with the message of following tips for the students to prevent heart attack:
 Exercise for 30 minutes or take 10,000 steps daily.
 Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and fruits.
 Manage your weight.
 Take salt in moderate quantity.
 Beware of warning signs to heart attack and do not ignore them.
 Shun junk food, energy drinks, hukkas, gym products etc and follow healthy life style.
