Chandigarh, April 3, 2025: Department of Life Long Learning and Extension today organised an Awareness Program on smoking, intoxicants, drugs and any such banned materials. About 15 faculty members, students and staff members of Department of Life Long Learning & Extension, Panjab University attended the Programme.
Delivering the lecture, Dr. Parmjit Singh Kang, Chairperson, Department of Life Long Learning and Extension said that as per the direction of the Panjab University, smoking in Panjab University Campus is prohibited and punishable offence. Particularly, smoking is strictly prohibited in the hostels including Mess Canteen Areas and anywhere in the campus. According to the Circular, defaulters will be fined minimum Rs.500/- for first offence and the Registrar will be informed. For repeating offence, further necessary action will be taken as per rule.
Dr. Kang informed that in order to curb the drug menace in the hostels, those found indulging in taking intoxicants, drugs and any such banned materials shall be expelled straightway from the hostel. They shall not be given admission in any other hostel in future.
