Awareness Programme on Intellectual Property Rights for MSMEs

Ludhiana, August 25, 2016: MSME Development Institute, Ludhiana in association with Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) & Punjab State Agriculture Implements Manufacturers Association (PSAIMA) organised Awareness Programme on Intellectual Property Rights for MSMEs at CICU Complex, Focal Point Ludhiana.

The main objective of this Awareness program was to create consciousness about the Brands, Design, Patent and Trademark under the intellectual Property Rights.

Sh. Vijay Kumar Director MSME-DI Ludhiana while inaugurating the program informed the need of such programmes to protect their Designing, Patent and other Trade Mark Rights from imitation. He also informed that using the copy of Design, Product and Trade Mark is a crime under the IPR Act.

Sh. Avtar Singh President of Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings while welcoming the Chief Guest and other dignitaries said that this awareness program is useful for the all industrial sectors. He stressed that units should come forward to get themselves registered under the Intellectual Property Rights. This will be helpful in making the Brand image in the national as well as International Markets.

Sh. Upkar Singh Ahuja General Secretary of Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings, Ludhiana while speaking on the occasion, said that Agricultural Implement and Auto Part Industries are changing their products day by day to achieve the markets avenues. He further said that there is a need to develop new designs and protect them under the Intellectual Property Rights.

Sh. Rahul Taneja , Scientist from HSCST presented the details about the rights of the manufactures under the Intellectual Property Rights. Sh. Gurharminder Singh , Sr. Scientific Officer from PSCST, Chandigarh spoke about Trademarks, Copyrights etc. related to Agricultural Implements Industry.

Sh. Malkiat Singh President of Punjab State Agriculture Implements Manufacturers Associations(PSAIMA) presented the vote of thanks and assured that their members will get the benefit as told by the experts.

Sh. Ankur Pathak, Sh. Neeraj Arora and Sh. Manoj Sharma, Assistant Directors from MSME-DI, Ludhiana provided the details of the subsidy Amount of Rs. 25000/- for Domestic Patent and Rs 200000/- for International Patent available for acquiring the certificates under the IPR and regarding other MSME schemes.
