The awareness session was organised UBA Cell ( Buterla unit), in collaboration with the Deptt of Botany, of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women.

Chandigarh, February 11, 2025: Chairperson, Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Manoj Kumar, today addressed the an awareness session on " Community based solutions for Waste Management " at the Community Centre, Sec 41, of the village Buterla. The awareness session was organised UBA Cell ( Buterla unit), in collaboration with the Deptt of Botany, of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women.
Dr. Manoj Kumar threw light on the pernicious effects of using plastic, thereby giving a strong message of replacing plastic bags with cloth bags and move towards the revival of a green environment.
The one hour lecture elicited a forthcoming reaction from the residents of the two villages i.e. Badheri and Buterla; who, in a welcoming spirit, surrendered their plastic bags and wholeheartedly accepted the transition to the use of cloth bags. The cloth bags were sponsored by the united efforts of the UBA Cell's clan, comprising, the MCM institutional family.
Overall, the activity of exchanging plastic bags for cloth bags, spearheaded by the instructive lecture delivered by Prof Manoj Kumar, drew its desired response.
