Aykai Hospital celebrates World Blood Donor Day 2024
Aykai Hospital, Ludhiana, recently celebrated World Blood Donor Day 2024 at its premises to honor and Thank Blood Donors and NGO representatives for their contribution in providing safe blood supply. Special blood donation drive is set to take place on June 14th at the hospital premises, and will be hosted by the esteemed Blood Transfusion Officer and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Hitish Narang.
Ludhiana, June 15, 2024: Aykai Hospital, Ludhiana, recently celebrated World Blood Donor Day 2024 at its premises to honor and Thank Blood Donors and NGO representatives for their contribution in providing safe blood supply. Special blood donation drive is set to take place on June 14th at the hospital premises, and will be hosted by the esteemed Blood Transfusion Officer and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Hitish Narang.
The event was graced by the presence of the Chairman of Aykai Hospital and Chief Transplant Surgeon, Dr. B.S. Aulakh. who welcomed the Chief Guest, Dr. Sunita Devi, Joint Director, Blood Transfusion Services (Punjab), along with Sukhvinder Singh, a prominent figure in Voluntary Blood Donation (BTS).
World Blood Donor Day is a significant occasion dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of safe blood and blood products, and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. This year’s theme, "20 years of Giving: Thank you Blood Donors" emphasizes the vital role of regular blood donation in saving lives and improving health.
Event Highlights:
•Welcome Address: Dr. Hitish Narang started the event with a welcome address, highlighting the importance of blood donation and the hospital's ongoing efforts to promote this noble cause.
•Keynote Speech: Dr. Sunita Devi deliverd a keynote speech on the state of blood donation services in Punjab and the critical need for continuous blood supply.
•Special Address: Dr. B.S. Aulakh highlighted the advancements in transplantation surgery and the indispensable role of blood donors in saving lives.
•Educational Sessions: Informative talks were given by Dr Sahil Bansal, on the importance of regular, voluntary blood donations to ensure a sustainable blood supply.
•Recognition Ceremony: Dr Sunita Devi and Sukhvinder Singh joined the stage to honor and recognize the contributions of regular blood donors and volunteers who have significantly impacted the lives of many through their selfless donations.
•Interactive Sessions: Attendees had the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions and Q&A with medical experts on the importance of blood and plasma donation.
•Awareness about Blood Donation through Skit and Quiz: A skit was performed by hospital staff to increase awareness about blood donation and Quiz was conducted for the participants.
•Blood Donation Camp: The celebration will conclude with a blood donation camp organized at Aykai Hospital on June 14, encouraging attendees and the public to donate blood and contribute to this life-saving cause.
•Poster Making Competition:Poster making competition was held between different department of Aykai Hospital, Staffs actively participated in this event. First,Second a& third prizes were awarded to the winners.
•Dr. Narang emphasized the crucial role of blood donors in saving lives, noting that the need for blood is universal, yet access remains a challenge in many regions. Dr. Aulakh added that this day is an opportunity to express gratitude to the millions of donors worldwide and to inspire others to become regular donors.
