Nawanshahr, April 29, 2022: As part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav being celebrated to imbibe the spirit of Nationalism among the people, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa on Friday said that district administration has planned to hold cultural fairs, cycle rally, cleanliness drive and competitions in the educational institutes on freedom fighters, freedom struggle in the coming days.

Presiding over a meeting with officials of various departments after participating in video-conference chaired by Chief Secretary Anirudh Tewari, Deputy Commissioner told the officials to make schedule of daily activities and ensure participation of people. He said that it is an opportunity to propagate about independence movement among the people.

He told heads of departments including education, local government, Youth Services, sports, Rural Development and Panchayat besides other send the reports of the events daily to his office.

NPS Randhawa said that these activities including their pictures or videos must be uploaded on social media handles and district administration’s website.

DC told that India is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Independence and these events have been planned under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to give an opportunity to the young and others to get information about the glorious history of India’s people, culture and achievement.

Prominent among present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioners Jasbir Singh, Amardeep Singh Bains, Amit Sareen, Assistant Commissioner Deepankar Garg and others.
