Ludhiana, September 24, 2018: Cabinet Minister for Forests and Wildlife Mr Sadhu Singh Dharamsot today accused the previous Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party government of making Punjab bankrupt from all aspects and said that the Badal family ruined the state more than even terrorism. He said this while addressing the gathering of party workers during the Congress party conference at village Chhapar, near here today.

While speaking on the occasion, Mr Dharamsot said that before the SAD-BJP came to power in the year 2007, it was a common saying that terrorism damaged the state the most, but during the 10 years of SAD-BJP rule, people now say that the previous government damaged the state more as the state exchequer was looted and innocent people were beaten across the state.

While taking an aim at the Badal family, Mr Dharamsot said that it was during the tenure of SAD-BJP government that our youth fell prey to the vicious circle of drugs, besides the Badal family looted our natural resources as well as every business.

He said that the Shiromani Akali Dal played an important role for bringing dark days in the state, but it was former Chief Minister Mr Beant Singh who sacrificed his life for bringing golden days back. He said that whenever the state or its residents were in danger, the Badal family proved opportunistic and saved their personal interests first. On the other hand Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has always worked wholeheartedly for safeguarding the interests of Punjab and Punjabis. He said that the present state government not only continued with the previous welfare schemes, but even implemented them properly and increased the financial aid. He also presented a brief about all welfare and social works carried out by the present Congress-led state government.

While addressing the conference, Member of Parliament Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu said that the culprits of desecration of religious Granth’s as well as of Bargari issue would be sent to jail at every cost. He assured the gathering that the Capt Amarinder Singh government is following up the matter with utmost devotion and seriousness. He said that the recent massive victory of Congress party in Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections have proved that the party has strengthened at grassroots level.

Mr Bittu said that now every Congressman has got an opportunity to serve the state and soon, development works worth crores would be started in the state through these elected representatives. He also warned that if any Congress worker or elected representative tries to indulge in corrupt practices, he would not only be shown the door from the party but would also have to face the law.

Payal MLA Mr Lakhbir Singh Lakha, former Minister Mr Malkit Singh Dakha, Senior Congress leader Mr Major Singh Bhaini, DCC (Rural) President Mr Gurdev Singh Lapran, Mr Krishan Kumar Bawa, Mr Manjit Singh Bharowal, besides several others also addressed the gathering.
