Banga/Ludhiana/Chandigarh, June 13, 2015: The Punjab Congress President Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today demanded minimum compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of those who were killed in bus accident near Behram yesterday. He also demanded Rs. 50,000 as compensation for the critical injured passengers and free treatment to the injured.
Bajwa today visited Dhahan Kaleran hospital where the injured have been admitted. In one of the worst bus accidents in recent times in the state, 15 persons were killed when a speeding private bus went out of control and hit a tree yesterday.
Bajwa said it was unfortunate that despite the increasing incidence of deaths in road accidents in the state, the Badal government had failed to come up with any traffic management plan. He asked the Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal to install speed regulator equipments on all the State Highways to ensure that these fatal incidents don’t take place again. It is pitiable that after 36 hours of the incident the Chief Minister doesn’t have time to listen and visit the injured despite such a gruesome tragedy. None of the Government Officials are looking after the injured who are admitted in Banga Hospitals.
S. Bajwa was accompanied by Sh. Joginder Singh Mann Ex Minister, Sh. Angad Saini, Sh. Varinder Sharma Secretary PPCC, Sh. Majit Saroya Secretary PPCC, Sh. Anil Dutta Secretary PPCC.
He later also visited to those affected by the gas leakage from a tanker who have been admitted to hospitals in Ludhiana. He was shocked to see the kind of cold shoulders which the SAD-BJP alliance Government in the State is extending to take care of the injured persons. Bajwa said it was shaking to know that there was no Fire Brigade service available in Doraha which made this incident more tragic. People kept on waiting for the Fire services for more than 2 hours. He appealed to the Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal that instead of spending money in Sangat Darshan programmes, he should ensure at least 1 fire brigade in every Municipality. He also demanded Rs. 10 lakh as compensation for the victims who lost their life in this incident and Rs. 1 lakh compensation for the injured.
S. Bajwa was accompanied by Sh. Rakesh Pandey MLA, Sh. Surinder Dawar MLA, Sh. Bharat Bhushan Ashu MLA, S. Tej Parkash Singh Kolti Ex MLA, S. Lakhvir Singh Lakha President DCC Khanna, Sh. Jatinder Pal Singh Bedi Chairman Beopar Cell PPCC, Sh. Ishwar Jot Singh Cheema Secretary PPCC, Sh. Dhruv Aggarwal Secretary PPCC, Sh. Sanjeev Bhargav (Rocky) Secretary PPCC, Sh.
