Chandigarh, February 1, 2025: The Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) organized a poetry recitation session titled "Basant Bahar: Kavita ki Fuhar," at Haryana Panchayat Bhawan. This intellectually enriching event was presided over by Dr. Sumita Misra, the Chairperson of CLS.
Renowned poets and emerging talent regaled the audience with their soul-stirring compositions, celebrating the spirit of renewal and creativity that defines the spring season. "As we welcomed the vibrant season of spring, 'Basant Bahar' embodied the spirit of renewal and creativity. The event was a testament to the power of poetry to bring people together and transcend boundaries," said Dr. Sumita Misra.
The evening featured memorable recitations by distinguished poets of the Tricity. CLS members presented their poems in four languages: Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, and English. Mehak Varun, Staffy Bhateja, Ruby Mohan, Dr. Urvi Sharma, Dr. Deviyani Singh, Dr. Sunaina Jain, and Lily Swaran presented their poems in English. Alka Kansra, Harpreet Kaur Baweja, Sarita Malik, Nishant Kumar Shrivastava, Dheerja Sharma, Dr. Vinay Bansal, Annu Rani Sharma, Rajni Pathak, and Neelam Narang presented their poems in Hindi. Dr. Suneet Madan recited her poem in Punjabi, and Gurdeep 'Gul' recited her poem in Urdu.
Their thought-provoking performances were met with thunderous applause, reflecting the audience's deep appreciation for the art of poetry. Sarita Malik and Harpreet Kaur Baweja coordinated the event.
The Chandigarh Literary Society is committed to fostering a love for literature and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the region. "Basant Bahar" was yet another endeavor to bring together poetry enthusiasts, provide a platform for emerging talent, and celebrate the power of words.
