Bathinda, October 3, 2013: In a meticulously planned operation, the Bathinda police has nabbed four members of an inter-state gang indulged in various cases of dacoity, murder, supari killing, robberies, vehicle snatching (luxury cars mainly) and possessing illegal weapons and recovered 8 firearms from them.
Disclosing this here today, Ravcharn Singh Brar, SSP Bathinda informed that today in the early hours of morning at 4:30, the Bathinda police started an operation based on specific source input. Various teams were constituted keeping in mind the topography and crop sown in the fields. The force was mobilised under the direct command of SSP in which various teams were constituted headed by SP (Detective) Naveen Singla, SP (Operations) Bhupinder Singh & CIA In-charge Jagdeesh Kumar.
He said that the operation which lasted around 5.1/2 hours was carried out in a house located in Jagha Ram Tirath, Jumber Basti, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda. The gangsters took the shield of women & children inside the house. The effectiveness of the operation forced the Culprits to surrender without a single fire being shot. This was an inter-state gang that has been involved in various cases of dacoity, murder, supari killing, robberies, vehicle snatching (luxury cars mainly) and possessing illegal weapons. The gang was evading arrests within the state and also other states.
He revealed that this gang has operatives in various jails from where the take information about their target. One such example was the recent case where this gang made an attempt on the life of Lakha of village Sidhana PS Dialpura in Bathinda. This gang has been notorious for deadly Inter-gang rivalry.  A Case FIR No.207 dated 03/10/2013 u/s 212, 216, 413, 420, 465, 467, 471 IPC & 25/54/59 Arms Act PS Talwandi Sabo has been registered against four persons namely Jagsir Singh @ Seera s/o Bhajan Singh r/o Sidhana, PS Phul, District Bathinda, Gurpreet Singh Sekhon s/o Jangir Singh r/o Mudki,  Ferozepur, Ranjodh Singh @ Jodha s/o Jagraj Singh r/o Kotha Guru Ka, Bathinda and Harjinder Singh @ Bittu s/o Smunder Singh r/o Jamber Basti, Jagah Ram Tirath, Bathinda. He pointed out that Harjinder Singh was providing  a hideout to this hardcore gang and himself also has a criminal background within and outside the state. He had been sentenced for 15 years and was presently on bail.
Brar further said that 2 Pistols .30 bore & 25 live cartridges, 2 Pistols .32 bore & 10 live cartridges, 1 Revolver .38 bore & 5 live cartridges, 2 Rifle DBBL 12 bore and 4 live cartridges and 1 Rifle .315 bore and 5 rounds have been recovered from the gangsters. Besides this, one Innova car with fake documents and Registration Number PB-029J-0085 has also been recovered.
He said that further investigations were likely to reveal their state-wide operatives/nexus with various criminals. He also expressed confidence that more recoveries were also in the pipeline. The arrest of the above is going to solve and trace a large number of criminal cases within the state and the neighboring states, he added.
