Dharamsala, October 20, 2013: HPCA chief Anurag Thakur today informed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has planned to open five regional cricket academies in India.

He said that Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association has urged BCCI to set up academy for North Zone in Dharamsala.

He said that he is sure that it shall be granted to Dharamsala as they fulfill all requirements.

Talking to reporters at Dharamsala on Sunday, Thakur said, “Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh have already expressed to open their academies in Himachal and we have also requested the BCCI to set up one of the five proposed regional cricket academies at Dharamsala. ”

Thakur also informed   that HPCA has proposed to hold training camps for Indian team in the International Stadium in Dharamsala, and hopes that such permission shall be granted soon.

Referring to the present tug of war between the state government and HPCA over the so-called irregularities regarding the land and registration issue Anurag said, “I have done everything according to law so, I do not afraid of anything.”

When asked as if Indian Premium League (IPL) match will be allowed at Dharamsala cricket stadium in future, Thakur said political leaders (Congress leaders) cannot decide that whether there should be a match or not.

He also refuted the charges against HPCA of encroaching over 720 square meter government land and damaging a building.

“During the Congress governments previous turn too  we successfully hosted international matches in Dharamsala. We are not afraid of anyone and will host matches, as earlier we have done,” said Thakur. www.cityairnews.com
