BEGINNING: Trg on rapid visual screening starts

Chandigarh, November 6, 2012: Two days Rapid Visual Screening training program for engineers of various departments of Punjab Government has started in the UT guest house today.

A spokesman of the Punjab Government today said that engineers of all the departments mainly Local Bodies, Water Supply, Irrigation, PWD of Punjab Government would be trained by the experts of IIT Bombay and Madras, that how to technically identify  the dilapidated  buildings and water tanks, roads before any natural calamity happens, so that the damage could be minimized. Besides that they would also to point out the important buildings, roads, water supply points etc which could be used for rescue operations, temporary shelters so that people can be evacuated in the case of any, headded.

He said that to involve the masses in the whole process, trained engineers would educate people about the safety measures to be taken at the time of any disaster. Besides that a joint cell would be set up comprising of revenue, health, water supply, food & civil supplies and transport departments to meet the challenge of any natural calamity besides providing quick relief to the affected population.
