BEGINS ON NOV 30: Maths competition for 6th-8th students


Chandigarh, November 23, 2012: The Punjab Government has decided to conduct Maths competition for the students of 6th to 8th class of Government Schools and upper primary schools.

The Competition would begin from November 30 across the State.

Disclosing this here today the Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka said that the motive behind this Maths competition is to inculcate Mathematical skills among the students for daily use.  He said that competition at the Block level would commenced on 30th November whereas at the district level the competition would begin at December 18. The competition would be conducted in four stages. Students would be encouraged by conferring 1st, 2ndand 3rd prize at the block level and cash prize of Rs. 900, Rs. 600 and Rs. 300 would be given to the winning team, respectively.

He said that at the district level the team bagging 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize would be awarded with the cash prize of Rs. 5,100, Rs.3,100 and Rs.2,100.

He also said that the competition would be based on the syllabus of class 6th, 7th and 8th and special stress would be given on the Tables and their daily uses and mathematical formulas.
