Dr Puja Sharma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture at the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni has bagged the Best Oral presentation Award at National Conference on Ornamental Horticulture to Uplift Rural Economy’ held at Udaipur recently. Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur and Indian Society of Ornamental Horticulture jointly organized the conference. Dr Puja received the award for her presentation on ‘Mass multiplication of medicinally important Ghingaru (Pyracantha crenulata) and its exploitation as a commercial landscape plant. Dr Puja, Dr Bharti Kashyap, Dr SR Dhiman, Dr YC Gupta and Sangeeta Kumari authored the paper. During the conference, Dr Puja also bagged the 3rd Best Oral award for the paper ‘Novel flower colour in carnation through in-vitro mutation breeding techniques and their maintenance’. The paper was authored by Dr Puja, Dr SR Dhiman, Dr YC Gupta, Priyanka Sharma and Rishu Doad. Another research paper written by university scientists on “evaluation and variability studies in carnation genotypes’ also received Best Research Award during the conference. University Vice-Chancellor Dr HC Sharma, Dean College of Horticulture Dr Rakesh Gupta and other faculty congratulated the scientists.
