Bhagwant Mann leads Punjab Vidhan Sabha in obituary references to noted personalities
A two-minute silence was observed in the memory of departed souls as a mark of respect during the obituary references.
Chandigarh, March 22, 2022: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday led the Vidhan Sabha in paying tribute to eminent personalities, freedom fighters, martyred soldiers besides political personalities, who had passed away since the last session of the Assembly.
On the first session of 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the House paid respects to Ex-Governor of Punjab General Sunith Francis Rodrigues, Ex-Minister of State Ramesh Dutt Sharma, former MLA Sant Ajit Singh, Ex-MLA and Freedom Fighter Harbans Singh and Athlete and Actor Praveen Kumar.
The House also paid tribute to the Brig. LS Lidder, who died in IAF chopper crash along with CDS General Bipin Rawat and other senior military officers, BSF Jawan Dharminder Kumar, who laid down his life while patrolling in Assam besides freedom fighters Prem Ballabh, Arjan Singh, Mohan Singh, Gopal Singh, Smt. Melo Devi, Dharam Singh, Jarnail Singh and Sukhdev Singh.
Meanwhile, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhwan proposed the name of Rana Mahindra Partap Singh, the brother of MLA Rana Gurjit Singh for obituary references.
