Bhagwant Mann-led state government to spend Rs 13.63 crore on beautification of Barnala: Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar

Chandigarh, April 11, 2023: The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is committed to improving the lives of its citizens through various development works across the state.

Local Government Minister, Dr.Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that approximately Rs 13.63 crore will be spent for the beautification of Barnala. The local government department has already initiated the office process for these works.

Dr. Nijjar stated that Rs 89.64 lakh will be utilized for bio-remediation of legacy waste at Municipal Council Barnala, with the objective of addressing waste management issues and improving the environment in the area. Additionally, Rs 1.75 crore will be spent on constructing public and community toilets to provide better sanitation facilities and promote cleanliness.

Furthermore, the Local Government Minister mentioned that Rs 74.50 lakh will be spent for civil and horticulture works to beautify the chowks in the Barnala, aiming to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the region and provide citizens with better green spaces.

Dr. Nijjar said that the Local Government Department will supply and install LED lights and landscaping lights for the beautification of chowks and flyovers at Kacheri Chowk, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Nehru Park, and ITI Chowk. The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 52.84 lakh.. Digital display poles will be installed at Nagar Council Barnala at a cost of Rs 1.60 crore to promote better communication with citizens and provide important information and updates.

He added that Rs 3.92 crore will be spent for hiring the services of Sweepers for the cleanliness of MC Barnala, and Rs 1.40 crore will also be spent for hiring the services of other posts. Additionally, Rs 2.79 crore will be spent on installing smart semi-underground waste collection bins and facilitating municipal solid waste transportation to the dumping site.

Dr. Nijjar emphasized that these projects represent a significant investment in the development of Punjab and reflect the government's commitment to improving the lives of its citizens.
