Bharat Bhushan Ashu holds review meeting with NHAI Officials today
Discusses status of several projects such as NH44, Elevated Road, Chandigarh Road, besides several others
Ludhiana: Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu today held a meeting with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials at Circuit House, here and took up several issues related to the ongoing development projects in the district. The issues discussed today included ongoing works on NH 44, Elevated Road project (Samrala Chowk to Ferozepur Road), Chandigarh Road, besides several others.
Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh, Ludhiana (East) MLA Mr Sanjay Talwar, Ludhiana (Central) MLA Mr Surinder Dawar, Samrala MLA Mr Amrik Singh Dhillon, Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, Political Secretary to CM Punjab Capt Sandeep Singh Sandhu, OSD to CM Mr Ankit Bansal, Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Sharma, MC Commissioner Mr Pardeep Sabharwal, besides several others also attended this meeting.
During the meeting, Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu took stock of the current status of the ongoing projects and directed the NHAI officials to speed up the work so that people can be benefitted from these projects. He directed them to ensure that the service lane along the Elevated Road should be completed at the earliest as due to the ongoing construction of the project, the residents are suffering. He said that the service lanes are part of every project and if these roads remain in bad shape, responsibility of officials would be fixed in writing and strict action would be taken against them.
Besides, issues related to the entry and exit points on the NH44 (GT Road) were also discussed and the NHAI officials assured that all such issues would be dealt with on priority basis. He said that to ease the traffic congestion for traffic coming from Ferozepur and going towards Bus Stand, in place of an underpass, the department is planning to construct a loop near Hotel Gulmohar on Ferozepur Road.
Other issues related to all ongoing development projects related to NHAI, such as Ladhowal Byepass, fixing of streetlights on NH44, and several others were also discussed.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included District Planning Board Chairman Mr Malkit Singh Dakha, Mrs Satwinder Kaur Bitti, Traffic Expert Mr Rahul Verma, Youth Congress leader Mr Kamil Boparai, besides senior officials of several other concerned departments.
