While inaugurating the function Maj. (Retd.) Sher Singh Aulakh said that in 1992 our Jatha started the mass movement for awareness of healthy environment.

Dr. Arun Mitra, General Secretary of Jatha said that crackers create lot of smoke which results into allergy to the people suffering from asthama. Noise produced by crackers may damage the hearing permanently assome of these crackers blast at more than 120 decibel.

Dr. Mitra also discussed the effects of GM Crops on human health, because these crops if ploughed without any tests are harmful, because research has shown harmful effects on the rats. It has been observed that if any disease occurs to the plants then the farmer will have to use medicines produced by these companies only. This clearly shows that ultimately companies like Monsento will be benefitted.

Dr. Rajinder Pal Singh Aulakh, agriculture technocrat in his speech said that if we put residue to which we say wastage of crops in the land itself, will result into increase in production of beneficial bacteria, nitrogen and phosphorus and soluble salts. Moreover it restricts the harmful bacteria. Many farmers from Dairies and nearby villages participated in the function.

M. S. Bhatia, Organising Secretary of the Jatha urged the people to restrain from using crackers and stressed to celebrate Diwali as Green Diwali 2013.
