Bharti Gautam of Punjab Agricultural University bags prestigious adhoc project

Ludhiana, November 27, 2017: Ms Bharti Gautam, a Ph.D student in the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Punjab Agricultural University, has bagged a prestigious adhoc project on “Evaluating different ornamental plants for indoor vertical gardening using different nutrient formulations and light intensities” under the scheme for Young Scientists and Technologists, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. The total budget of the project for three year research is Rs 24.98 lac.

Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice- Chancellor, PAU, congratulated the student and her Ph.D guide, Dr R.K. Dubey for bringing laurels to the university.

Dr Navtej Singh Bains, Director of Research, appreciated the innovative approach of the department in mitigating needs of the urban population.

Dr S.S. Kukal, Dean, College of Agriculture and Dr Neelam Grewal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, also congratulated the student and her guide for this big achievement.

Dr H.S. Grewal, Head of the Department, said quantification of role of indoor plants in improving the inside environment will now be possible through the research findings of the student.

Dr R. K. Dubey, Assistant Professor of Landscaping, said under this project, she will evaluate ornamental plants for indoor vertical gardening by using different nutrient formulations and light intensities under house conditions. Further, he observed that her research findings will help to beautify the interiors of the houses and offices, and ameliorate the interior air quality.
