Chandigarh, April 15, 2023: The Bhavan Vidyalaya New Chandigarh campus was inaugurated by Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Banwarilal Purohit today. 

The event commenced with the unveiling of the school’s foundation stone by, the Governor, thereby marking the beginning of the school’s journey. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by venerable personalities comprising Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Vinay Bublani, Special Secretary, School Education and Director General, School Education, Punjab, Aashika Jain, DC, Mohali, Jagdish Lakhani, Joint Executive Secretary and Registrar, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai Kendra, R. K. Saboo, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra, Jagesh Khaitan, Vice Chairman, Madhukar Malhotra, Honorary Secretary, other distinguished members of the Kendra Committee, Vineeta Arora, Director (Education) cum Senior Principal, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, Principals and Vice Principals of all the Bhavan campuses under Chandigarh Kendra, other renowned dignitaries and educationists from the tricity, and the staff and students of Bhavan Vidyalaya, New Chandigarh.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp followed by the Sarva Dharma Prayer, resonating the secular spirit that Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan stands for. Vineeta Arora, the Director (Education)-cum-Senior Principal, extended a formal welcome to the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests, and threw light on the school's vision and mission. 

The Secretary, Madhukar Malhotra addressed the august gathering and walked them through the journey of the coming up of the school campus. He made a special mention of the support extended by GMADA and Omaxe, New Chandigarh to the school. 

Speaking on the occasion, Lakhani outlined the rich heritage of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and its continued efforts in promoting Indian culture among the country's youth. The Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra, R.K. Saboo, delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the school's dedication to providing quality education and moulding young minds for the future.

The hallmark of the occasion was the address by the Chief Guest, Banwarilal Purohit, who is also the Vice President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. He congratulated the school management for providing quality education to its students. He emphasised the role of teachers in nation- building, and urged the students to practice simple living and high thinking, based on Gandhian ideals. 

Inderpreet Kaur, the Principal of Bhavan Vidyalaya, New Chandigarh, expressed her gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor, Members of the Kendra Committee, special invitees, guests, and dignitaries for making the occasion momentous with their gracious presence. 

The event concluded with the National Anthem. The guests and dignitaries were then taken for a school visit where they appreciated the school's cutting-edge infrastructure and facilities.
