New Delhi, January 27, 2014: Haryana Chief Minister  Bhupinder Singh Hooda has  urged the people to continue to make their significant contribution in further accelerating the pace of development in the state.

Hooda was addressing largely attended Republic Day celebrations at Nuh in district Mewat on Sunday. Earlier,  Hooda unfurled the national flag and took salute from different contingents at an impressive marchpast.

Hooda said that, we salute our freedom fighters, who have made great sacrifices for the freedom of the country. Our Constitution came into effect this day in1950. This Constitution was prepared under the able leadership of Dr Rajendra Prasad. The Constitution also reflects the glimpse of farsightedness of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, wisdom of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and perseverance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Mr Hooda said that he was proud that his father Ch. Ranbir Singh was also the member of the same Constituent Assembly. He said that the world was amazed the way in which  the country got freedom by following the path of non-violence as shown by Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The people from Haryana had also taken a lead in the freedom struggle and these brave men  included Bahadur Hasan Khan of Mewat, Nawab Shamasuddin, Shahadat Khan and Karim Khan.

Hooda said that former Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru had said that republic does not only mean political freedom, but also social and economic democracy. He said that Haryana is observing the year 2014 as ‘Year of Inclusive Development’ and from January 1, new schemes of Rs 3000 crores have been implemented. These schemes would directly benefit farmers, labourers, employees and other sections of the society.

Hooda said that due to the hard work of farmers and welfare policies for their welfare, foodgrains production of the state has reached 162.25 lakh tonnes which was 130.57 lakh tonnes in the year 2004-05. He said that the rate of sugarcane has been increased to Rs 301 per quintal which is the highest in the country. For one time settlement of the crop loans of the farmers, One Time Settlement scheme has been implemented under which farmers would be given a rebate of 50 per cent in the total interest. “Mukhyamantri Kisan evm Khetihar Majdur Jeewan Suraksha Yojna” has been implemented to give a financial assistance of Rs.five lakh in case of death of farmer or agricultural labourer during work and Rs 30,000 to Rs two lakh in case of becoming disabled. Similarly, under the “Mukhyamantri Dudharu Pashu Suraksha Yojna” started to safeguard the interest of the cattle owners, financial assistance ranging from Rs.20,000 to Rs.50,000 would be given in case of death of a milch cattle. He said that the compensation being given in case of damage to crops due to natural calamities has been increased to Rs.10000 per acre. Moreover, the power tariff has been reduced by 60 per cent and now the farmers would get electricity at the rate of Rs ten paisa per unit. Mewat Feeder Canal Project and project for the improvement of Kotla Lake have been prepared for the expansion of irrigation facilities in Mewat region, added Hooda.

Hooda said that today, Haryana is recognized as a leading state in industries. He said that world class infrastructure has been set up in the state for industrial development. New IMTs were being set up in the same series. IMT in Roz-ka-Meo in Mewat was being established over 1500 acres of land. This would not only boost the economical development of the area, but would also generate new avenues of employment.

The Chief Minister said that electricity is vital for development. Four new thermal power plants have been set up to increase power generation in the state. With this, the installed generation capacity of the state has increased to 5300 MW from 1587 MW. The road network has been strengthened in all areas of the state. Mr Hooda said that only one railway line was laid in the last 39 years since the inception of Haryana, whereas we have got approved six railway lines and a coach factory. While Rewari-Rohtak rail line has been started, the work on Sonepat-Gohana-Jind rail line was in progress. He said that the foundation stone of Rohtak-Hansi rail line has been laid. Apart from this, Delhi-Sohna-Nuh-Ferozpur Jhirka-Alwar rail line has been got approved. The metro rail service has been started upto Gurgaon and the work to expand metro upto Faridabad and Bahadurgarh was in progress. The commencement of KMP expressway would initiate a new chapter of development in Mewat region, he further added.

Hooda said that special emphasis was being laid on the development in the areas like education, sports and employment, as a result of which, today Haryana has emerged as a sports power in the world. Education sydstem has witnessed many changes. Besides new universities, many educational institutes of national level have been set up in the state. Rajiv Gandhi Education City was being set up in district Sonepat which would also have the extension campus of IIT Delhi. Another extension campus of the IIT, Delhi was being set up at Badhsa in district Jhajjar. He said that Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership was also being set up in district Jhajjar. As many as 500 new technical institutes and 56 ITIs have been opened in the state. About 20 lakh school children were being given scholarship ranging from Rs 75 to 600 per month.

Hooda said that special emphasis was being laid on promotion of education in district Mewat. As many as 220 primary schools have been upgraded to the level of secondary. Apart from this, 34 new primary schools have been opened. Five Aarohi Schools have been opened for the promotion of Science subjects. He said that a sum of Rs 110 crore has been spent in district Mewat under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan. Many new ITIs are being opened. A women college has been set up in village Salhakheri.

The Chief Minister said that the state has also made considerable progress in the field of health services and medical education. Out of the  four medical colleges being opened in the state, one college has already been started in Nalhar in Mewat. He said that the state government has a target to develop the villages on the pattern of urban areas. He said that the water supply in 6692 villages of the state has been augmented. Rajiv Gandhi Drinking Water Scheme has been started in Mewat at a cost of Rs 247 crore. With a view to ensure that every poor  get food, Dal-Roti scheme has been started. Apart from this, to provide housing facilities to the people in rural areas, Priyadarshini Awas Yojana has been implemented under which two lakh houses would be made available in the next  two  years.

He said that we are proud of  the sacrifices made by our martyrs, freedom fighters and soldiers. We have made efforts to provide better facilities to the families of freedom fighters and ex-servicemen.
