Chandigarh August 29, 2024: BioNEST and E-YUVA Centre, PU Chandigarh, proudly celebrated the landmark launch of “BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment and Employment) Policy for Fostering High Performance Biomanufacturing’. 

On this momentous occasion, the esteemed Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Prof. Renu Vig, launched the poster for “BioE3 policy: Cultivating future growth through Green Innovation” on 29th August 2024 for spreading a word for the same. Prof. Rohit Sharma explained about the policy that this innovative policy sets a new benchmark in advancing bioscience research and entrepreneurship, aligning with the broader goals of sustainable development and economic growth. The 'BioE3 Policy' introduces a forward-thinking framework designed to drive technology development and commercialization in the biosciences sector. The BioE3 Policy will be focussing on strategic/ thematic sectors of high value bio-based chemicals, biopolymers & enzymes; smart proteins & functional foods; precision biotherapeutics; climate resilient agriculture; carbon capture & its utilization; marine and space research. This policy will expedite technology development and commercialization by setting up Biomanufacturing & Bio-AI hubs and a Biofoundry. By focusing on regenerative bioeconomy models and green growth, it will also promote the expansion of India’s skilled workforce and drive significant job creation. This policy will further strengthen the government's initiatives like the ‘Net Zero’ carbon economy and ‘Lifestyle for Environment,’ guiding India towards accelerated ‘Green Growth’ through the promotion of a ‘Circular Bioeconomy.’ The BioE3 Policy aims to create a future that is more sustainable, innovative, and responsive to global challenges, establishing a clear Bio-vision for a Viksit Bharat. Prof. Rohit Sharma was accompanied by his team working under BioNEST and E-YUVA Centre, who being the stakeholders and direct benefiters of BioE3 Policy are very much excited about the new venture they are going to embark upon.
