Birthday of Dhirubhai Ambani celebrated at CHEMCON

Chandigarh, December 28,2014 :  Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai Vice Chancellor  G D Yadav today said that the science is developing at a fast pace and it can enhance the longevity of the mankind in a way that ‘by the end of the 21st century the death will not be problem, life will’.

 Yadav was delivering the  Dhirubhai Ambani Commemoration Lecture on the topic of “Achieving Longevity, Prosperity and Peace: Role of Chemical and Allied Industries” at the ongoing 67th Annual Session of the Chemical Engineering Congress (CHEMCON) in Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh Campus today (Sunday).

The birthday of Dhirubhai Ambani was celebrated today at the CHEMCON as the Dhirubhai Ambani Commemoration Day.

The four day prestigious International Conference is being organised by Chandigarh Regional Centre, Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) in collaboration with SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (UICET), PU. PU Vice Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover, Director Institute of Microbial Technology  Girish Sahni, Vice-President, RIL, Head Industrial Affairs  Sapan Ray also participated in the function.

The session evoked the thought process centering on ideas of ‘Think big, Think fast and Think ahead’.

In his key note lecture,  G.D. Yadav edified and emphasised on the role of Chemical and Allied Industries in achieving trinity of Longevity, Prosperity and Peace. He talked about the development in field of increased life expectancy in humans.

 Yadav emphasized on the capability of smart materials in transforming the modern life style. He said that the incorporation of various technologies can synthesize such fabrics which would be totally resistant to dirt and they would not have to be cleaned or washed. This would also increase life of the fabrics, he added.

The book titled ‘Science and Technology in Colonial India’ by Kamlesh Mohan was launched on the occasion.
