Sonipat, August 21, 2024: Congress MP Deepender Hooda has said the BJP government has turned Sonipat, which Congress developed as a hub of education, into a hub of unemployment, crime and drug addiction. He said the people of Haryana have been forced to live with broken roads, flowing sewers on the roads, waterlogging and shortage of electricity and water.
Launching a direct attack on the BJP, he directly asked the ruling party to tell where did the university in Butana go? “What happened to the Girls College? What happened to IMT? What happened to the rice mill? What happened to the drainage of rain water? Why is there less water in the canals. Why has the problem of water supply not been solved in every village,” he questioned.
He said that 81 km of metro was built in the whole of Haryana and 4 cities were connected by metro During the Congress' Hooda government. “What is the reason that in 10 years of BJP, not even a single pillar of the metro could be built here? What will the government do in one month when it has not done anything in 119 months,” he asked.
He said the BJP government announced early elections in the state to put a veil of code of conduct on its false announcements. “It is clear from the crowd gathering in our padyatras that Congress is coming and BJP is going. With the first ray of every morning, one day of the BJP government is decreasing,” he stated.
Deepender today reached Gohana Vidhan Sabha for a padyatra under the Haryana Maange Hisaab Abhiyan. The padyatra started from New Sabzi Mandi (in front of Rest House) Sonipat Road and went through Parshuram Chowk, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Chowk (Fountain Chowk), Maharishi Balmiki Chowk (Samta Chowk), Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram Chowk (Old Bus Adda) to Maharaja Agrasen Chowk located in Old Anaj Mandi.
Speaking at the yatra, Deepender said the Congress' Hooda government established Rajiv Gandhi Education City with the idea of making Sonipat a hub of education. “The idea of the Congress government was that our youth should make their future in education and sports,” he stated.
“With this thinking, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar National Law University was established here, Chaudhary Chhotu Ram University was established, Bhagat Phool Singh Women's University Khanpur, Bhagat Phool Singh Women's Medical College, NIFTEM, IIIT and many other private universities were established. Many institutions of the Government of India and the Government of Haryana came to this region,” he said.
“The BJP turned Sonipat, a hub of education, into a hub of crime and drug abuse. Let alone bringing a school, college or university here, the BJP government even locked the DIET built during our time. The BJP did not do anything for the development of the area in 10 years,” he pointed out.
Deepender said the BJP government, intoxicated with the arrogance of power, did not even spare the Panchs and Sarpanchs. “This government crossed all limits of dictatorship and insulted every section including Panchs and Sarpanchs,” he said.
“First, farmers, unemployed youth, employees demanding old pension scheme, Anganwadi, Asha workers, MNREGA workers, village chowkidars, sanitation workers were beaten with sticks and then in Panchkula, Sarpanchs were also openly beaten with lathis. But now the BJP's dictatorship is about to end. On October 1, the people of Haryana will throw the BJP out of power,” he added.
The Congress MP said there is a police guard outside every Dhaba here, and crime has reached a point in the state under the BJP government that today some gangster or underage shooter is emerging from every village. “Haryana has become a refuge for criminals as crime has gone out of control in the entire state. Criminals are openly taking refuge in Haryana after committing crimes in other states,” he said.
Deepender said that according to the March data of NCRB of the Home Ministry, Haryana today has the highest number of kidnappings, highest ransom collections, and crimes against women in the country. “Haryana is at number 2 in murder rate. Due to the big criminal incidents happening every day, the common Haryana resident is living in the shadow of fear. Haryana has become a refuge for criminals,” he stated.
He said the incident of indiscriminate firing by miscreants at the famous Matu Ram Jalebi Wale shop of Gohana and demanding a ransom of Rs 2 crore is a living example of the poor law and order situation in the state.
Deepender said the reason for increasing crime in Haryana is unemployment, corruption and drug addiction. “The BJP government has pushed the state into the abyss of corruption. In 2005 when the Hooda government of Congress was formed, Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda had challenged the criminals saying that they should either give up crime and come to the mainstream, or leave Haryana, otherwise they will not be spared,” he stated.
“During the Hooda government, criminals were afraid of the law, today people are afraid of crime and criminals. Manohar Lal Khattar, who was the Chief Minister of the state for 9 and a half years, publicly said that his government cannot provide security to every person. He even advised BJP workers to pick up sticks and said in a meeting, 'Pick up sticks, do not be afraid of going to jail, you will emerge as a leader.' When the head of the state is making such statements that boost the morale of criminals, then crime and criminals will definitely go out of control,” he pointed out.
