BJP to further strengthen its structure and base in Punjab
Author.

Bharatiya Janata Party has assigned number of Union Ministers to strengthen the party structure and base in Punjab for the coming parliament elections in 2024. Union Ministers for Petroleum and Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri, Union External Affairs Minister for State Arjun Meghwal, Union Minister for State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti were in Punjab to motivate the party cadre. Will this strategy of the party in Punjab really yield positive and effective results in coming future? Many senior leaders from the Congress have left the party and joined BJP whereas in the Sangrur by election SAD(A) candidate Simranjit Singh Mann won with a thin margin. BJP seems to be on election mode in Punjab hoping that AAP will lose its vote bank in coming days due to delay in fulfilling its guarantees and promises. There is possibility that Punjab may witness multi-corner contests during the coming parliament elections in 2024. However, it is very early to comment on the matter.
The elections of municipal corporations and municipal committees in Punjab are almost due next year. If all goes well BJP will certainly gain and show positive results in these elections.
Meanwhile, all the senior congress leaders who have resigned from the Congress and joined BJP in the pre assembly elections period are hopeful that soon they will be accommodated / adjusted on key posts. It is wait and watch policy that what BJP high command takes its decision because there are number of senior BJP leaders are waiting to be accommodated. These BJP leaders throughout their life worked honestly for the party even during the days of militancy. The Congress party seems to have succeeded in damage control in Punjab as presently, the Congress has succeeded in halting the exit of its leaders to other political parties. Congress will have to unite and motivate its cadre for the coming elections to municipal corporations and municipal committees.
