Keeping this in view, BLK Super Specialty Hospital, New Delhi, has taken yet another patient-centric step to provide world-class healthcare services to the citizens of Meerut and adjoining areas and launched its exclusive Liver Transplant OPD services at Nutema Hospital, Meerut Today.
Commenting on the need for the special OPD for liver transplant in Meerut, Dr. Abhideep Chaudhary, Senior Director & HOD, HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation, BLK Super Speciality Hospital said, “The The prevalence of liver diseases is on the rise in the country, owing chiefly to lifestyle factors. However, diagnosis is delayed in over 90% of the patients. The establishments of these specialty OPDs will help patients in tier 2 and 3 cities get specialized and timely consultation. I am absolutely overwhelmed to see overwhelming response patients turn up on the very first day of our OPD here today. We found patients suffering from liver issues across a cross-section of people especially those with diabetes, metabolic disorders, and alcohol users.”
BLK Super Speciality Hospital recently crossed the milestone of transplanting 100 livers amidst the pandemic under the able guidance of Dr. Abhideep Chaudhary.
Dr. Gaurav Sood, Sr. Consultant, HPB Surgery & Liver Transplantation added, “The incidences related to gastroenterological diseases have seen a rise in the recent years attributing to an unhealthy and inactive lifestyle. However, considerable improvement in early diagnosis and detection of such problems is also one of the factors for accurate treatment. Unfortunately, most of the patients seek medical aid at a later stage, when their condition usually at a critical level. We request people to not wait for the symptoms to subside on their own because that way you are just making things worse for yourself”.
According to the recent reports of WHO, Liver related diseases are being recognized as one of the second chronic diseases which are becoming the reason for the increasing death rate in India. As per the recent data provided by Globacan India 2018, Liver cancer was ranked 12th among the most frequent cancer in India, accounting for around 30000 cases of new cases of liver cancer recorded.
“Early detection is the key to reversing liver fibrosis as it can restrict or remove causative factors such as limiting alcohol consumption and reduction of weight. What was alarming today was that we saw a lot of patients in the younger age bracket. In India, the age for alcoholic liver disease is coming down and it mostly occurs between the ages of 30 and 40 as the average age when people start drinking has come down to 16 so that could be a probable reason for this trend. However, people need to be cautious that if they feel that they may be engaging in any such lifestyle-related habits that could be damaging to their liver, they must get themselves checked regularly.” Dr. Chaudhary informed further.
Management of Nutema Hospital, Dr. Sandeep Garg & Dr. V. Bambi also expressed their views and said “We are happy to be associated with one of the leading healthcare providers and I would like to thank Dr. Abhideep Chaudhary, his team and BLK Super Speciality Hospital for providing specialty consultations for the citizen of Meerut and adjoining areas.”
