Ludhiana, January 29, 2014:  Hero group promoted BML Munjal University (BMU), located on the outskirts of Gurgaon (Village Sidhrawali, District Gurgaon on NH-8, 50 kms from the Delhi International Airport) is all set to commence its courses in Management and Engineering from July 2014, admissions for which will begin shortly.
It was a homecoming and an emotional moment for the promoters of the Hero Group led by Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman, BML Munjal University and Akshay Munjal, Director, BML Munjal University as they addressed a press meet in the city where the family began their business journey.
Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Kant Munjal said, “This University is our endeavor to help young men and women to acquire globally-benchmarked knowledge and skills so that they are suitably equipped to lead their organizations to success. Thus, the focus of BMU would be to impart a holistic, practical-oriented, industry-aligned education.”
He further added, “We have tied up with Imperial College London (which currently ranks as the 5th best university as per the QS World University Rankings 2013) for our School of Management and believe that our innovative and exciting academic framework will give our students a global exposure and instill in them the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation.
The School of Engineering & Technology will offer 360 seats for its BTech programme, while The School of Management will have 60 seats each for its MBA and BBA programmes. BMU will follow a multi-dimensional evaluation process to assess an applicant’s suitability for the courses offered by the university. These include ranking in standard entrance exams, class 12 and class 10 marks, essays, recommendation letters, test of aptitude and attitude and test of hands-on capability.
Re-iterating the vision of the university, Akshay Munjal said, “We want to nurture ethical leaders who are skilled, knowledgeable and have the life skills required for leading their organizations to success”. He further added, “BMU’s tie-up with Imperial College London will be of great advantage to students. Imperial College will be an enriching and transformative experience, providing students the rare opportunity to advance their academic progress and broaden their world view by attending credit-based courses and innovation camps in London. Most significantly, 25 BMU BTech students will get a chance to undertake a one-year postgraduate programme at Imperial College Business School.”
Industry-promoted Centres of Excellence on Campus: Here students will be exposed to the latest technology platforms, real-life projects and hands-on learning. They will also get a chance to work in virtual-cum-physical labs at the Workshop of the Future where they can conceptualize, design, produce, and test real-life products.  One such centre has been established by Siemens PLM Software.
A Word About the Campus: The BMU campus has been designed by HOK, USA - the architectural firm which has also designed famous universities like University of Buffalo, University of Maryland, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Schapiro Center for Engineering and Physical Science Research (CEPSR), Columbia University, New York, Cecil H. Green Library, and Stanford University, Palo Alto, California to name a few. The design of the campus rests on the belief that modern-day education cannot be confined to the walls of a classroom or restricted to a rigid 9 to 5 class schedule or delivered to individuals in silos. The campus seamlessly integrates academic spaces with recreational ones to spur collaboration between peers, enrich out-of-classroom experiences, foster group-based learning and promote congeniality among the residents. And, the campus is spacious and 'green'; being home to over 1800 trees, many of which are rare, native trees. By the time the university opens in July 2014, an additional 1000 trees would have been planted on the 50 acres campus.
The university campus is in close proximity to the corporate and industrial hub in Gurgaon and will encourage regular engagement with industry experts and leaders.   Students will get an opportunity to meet and interact and with prospective employers through on-campus events, placements and other networking programmes.//ludhiana news online, ludhiana news in English, ludhiana news, ludhiana current news, ludhiana news live, Ludhiana breaking news, Ludhiana headlines, Ludhiana latest news, punjab news, india news, punjab news live, punjab news online, punjab news, punjab news headlines, punjab breaking news, india news, punjab news,
