BOOK TO STRENGTHEN INDO-AUSTRALIAN LITERARY PARTNERSHIP – DR SP SINGH
Ludhiana, August 5, 2017: A book of Punjabi songs titled “Panjaan Paania De Geet” was released in a function organised by Punjabi Lekhak Sabha and Indoz Punjabi Sahit Sabha Brisbane (Australia) at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), here today. This book was released by Dr SP Singh, former vice chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr SP Singh stated that this book contains songs by five poets/lyricists each from Punjab (India) and Australia. He said that this book would help in strengthening the Indo-Australia Literary Partnership.
This book contains songs by Prof Gurbhajan Gill, Mr Amrik Talwandi, Mr Manjinder Dhanoa, Trailochan Lochi and Mr Harbans Malwa from Punjab (India) while Mr Sarabjit Sohi, Mr Atma Hayer, Mr Kewal Dhillon, Mr Surjit Sandhu and Mr Pal Rauke from Australia.
Dr SP Singh said that the GGN Khalsa College and its institutes would always be willing to tie up with organisations across the globe that are committed for the welfare of Punjabi language. He said that talks are already going on with representatives of Punjab Bhawan in Surrey (Canada) and Indoz Punjabi Sahit Sabha in Brisbane (Australia).
A “Kavi Darbar” against social evil of female foeticide was also organised under the banner “Rakhdi Di Tand Khatre Vich Hai”. Poets that participated in this Kavi Darbar were Trailochan Lochi, Manjinder Dhanoa, Amrik Singh Talwandi, Harbans Malwa, Prof Gurbhajan Gill,Prof. Anurag Singh, Amarjit Sherpuri, Sarbjit Virdi, besides others.
Prominent among those who attended the function included US based NRI Jasjit Singh Natt, Prof Ravinder Bhathal, Prof Gurbhajan Gill, besides several others.
Mr Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT, proposed a vote of thanks in the end.
