Book release function organised at GGN Khalsa College 

Ludhiana, September 15, 2023: The Post Graduate Department of English, Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, under the aegis of Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, organized a Book Release/Discussion ceremony of the book entitled The Tapestry of Heartstrings: A Book of Poems written by Dr. Sushmindarjeet Kaur, Head, P.G. Department of English, GGN Khalsa College, Ludhiana. 

Dr. Mandeep Kaur shed light on the theme of the book by saying that the book is an anthology penned down from the heart. It provides various thematic patterns and creates a new world of imagination. Besides editing ten books, she has authored one more book entitled Voices from Within, which is a collection of poems and it was published in 2021. 

Dr. S. P. Singh, former Vice-Chancellor, GNDU, Amritsar and President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, along with H. S. Narula, Honorary General Secretary, GKEC, while applauding the endeavours of the department mentioned that such activities encourage, motivate and inspire the fraternity to be more productive and utilise their idle time in honing the skills they possess. He further remarked that the book under discussion offers multi-splendored vignettes of love and compassion. Her poetry has got a liturgical quality. 

Dr. Arvinder Singh Bhalla, college Principal, through his motivational words, expressed that today is the dire need to give right direction to the youth by following the teachings and preachings of the Gurus. He said that the words she wrote have the power to transport the individual from this materialistic world to another world. She has a clear perception of the world and is highly concerned about the same. She chooses to introspect, evaluate and even question one’s motives, and actions, but hope and positivity rules her lines. He congratulated the P.G. Department of English for organising this event which according to him would be highly inspirational to the entire teaching fraternity and also to the students. 

Prof. Gurbhajan Gill appreciated the relentless endeavours and dedication of Dr. Sushmindarjeet Kaur. Dr. J. S. Anand, Satbir Chaddha and Molly Joseph presented their views on the book.
Dr. Sumedha Bhandari, Assistant Professor, Department of English, PAU, Ludhiana, while analysing her book stated that it is the outcome of a genuine flowering of the poet’s mind, towards a better understanding of her own self, which helps her set up the right priorities towards her fellow beings. She further remarked that the verses of the poetess delve into the very essence of existence itself. 

Dr. Bhupinder Jeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, P.G. Department of English, GGN Khalsa College, Ludhiana, expressed herself that the book is a true reflection of the poetess’s inner self. She said that the more one reads her poems the more she seems familiar to the reader. She depicted that this book is the poet’s restrained yet powerful denunciation of the patriarchal forces which have robbed women of their voices.

On this occasion, Kuljeet Singh, Senior Vice-President, GKEC, Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director GGNIMT, Gunmeet Kaur, Principal, GGNPS, Dr. Guriqbal Singh, the teaching fraternity and the students of post-graduation were there to witness the book launch ceremony.
