Chandigarh, August 29, 2022: Shabad Vichar Manch - A Talk show-cum-Seminar on the title ‘Creative Response of Indian Diaspora’ was organized by the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, Panjab University Chandigarh in offline and online mode.
 
Program was started with the Novel release of ‘Safar’ penned by Harjeet Singh a British Novelist. The novel depicts migrant conditions, struggles and different horizons of Indian Diaspora in England in historical perspective.
 
In his welcome address, Prof. Gurpal Singh Sandhu, Academic Inchrge of the department said the Indian Diaspora especially Punjabi Diaspora has a long rich heritage. He said that Diaspora has an important and crucial role in developing and shaping cultural heritage. Diaspora keeps culture alive in a distant place. He also shared his personal experiences of diasporic journies gained during lifetime.
 
In his introductory note, Poet Rajinderjit Singh from England, expressed his views in detail, shared his life journey and experiences in England. The Poet recited the many poems and Ghazals from his collection entitled ‘Save Aksh: Frontal Reflection’.
 
In his presidential address Prof. Sarabjit Singh, Head, School of Punjabi Studies, PU Chandigarh said that Punjabi Diaspora has a long historical tradition back to 150 years during colonial period. Wherever the Diaspora goes; tradition, language, Art, music and culture goes along with. He also expressed his views on current massive Punjabi migration to west. Literature is a manifestation of circumstances of human conditions. Poetics is an expression of inner depth of a Poet.
 
Dr. Labh Sing Kheeva, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. Manmohan Singh Daon and many others also expressed their views. There are many scholars, guests and students across the world, scholarly participated in the discussion. Stage was conducted by Dr. Sukhwinder Singh. At the end of Talk, Dr. Gurpal Singh gave a vote of thanks.
