A book title "Theatre Ke Baad" (120 representative stories of Anton Chekhov) was launched during a function at the Department of Russian, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh January 21, 2024: A book title "Theatre Ke Baad" (120 representative stories of Anton Chekhov) was launched during a function at the Department of Russian, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The book translated by Dr. Pankaj Malviya, professor, department of Russian, Punjab University, Chandigarh, is divided into two parts, containing about 720 pages. Each part has 60 stories of great Russian writer Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, published by Srishti Prakashan, Chandigarh.
Prof. Abhay Maurya, former, Vice Chancellor, The English and foreign language University, Hyderabad graced the occasion as a chief guest. Prof. Maurya, speaking on the topic “Culture of translation and translation of culture”highlighted the various aspects of translation of creative writing from Russian into Hindi.
The eminent writer Nasira Sharma shared her experience in translating the creative works from Persian, Arabic, and Pashto languages into Hindi and delved upon in detail the problems of culturally specific instances during translation and their solutions.
Prof. Dinesh Dadhichi, former Head of the English department, Kurukshetra University, underlined the different translation techniques by referring to the translation of Dr.Malviya's book "Theatreke bad." He talked about the nuances of translation of poems of English poets into Hindi.
Dr.Prasoon Prasad conducted the function, and Dr. Ali Abbas, the chairman Department of Russian and Urdu proposed the vote of thanks.
