Chandigarh: A webinar titled "Boosting Immunity and Weight Management during Covid 19 Pandemic" was organized today for the residents of PU Hostels. Dr.Kamla, warden Girls Hostel number 2 welcomed Prof. S. K. Tomar, DSW for inaugurating the webinar. He welcomed the students and advised them to take good care of their physical and mental health by a positive mindset and balanced diet. Prof Sukhbir Kaur,DSW(W) was also present.
The key speaker was Dr. Ekta Bajaj, Dietician PU and she highlighted that it was the need of the hour in the present Covid scenario to share tips with PU students to stay healthy with proper diet and exercise while they are at home through a webinar virtual platform. The speaker emphasized that one has to supplement food with vitamin C with amla and lemon and a good amount of fibre with lots of salad to boost immunity and strengthen digestion. She also shared healthy recipes including hung curd, sprouts and fermented food like idli, dosa and others to substitute the junk food cravings. Keeping the lockdown effects on lifestyle in view, she advised to exercise while staying at home in the form of yoga, dance, aerobics, breathing exercises and morning/evening walks preferably on terrace if available.
The enriching talk was followed by the query session handled by Dr. Kavita Taneja, warden Girls Hostel 4 with students' questions related to diet and exercise for lockdown times. Dr. Namita Gupta, warden GH6 presented the vote of thanks.
