BRIBERY: CBI arrests IT inspector and another official in separate cases

Jalandhar, December 28, 2012: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Income Tax Inspector and an Archivist -in-Charge of National Archives of India in separate cases of bribery.

A case was registered against an Inspector of Income Tax (Circle-III), Gaya for demanding a bribe of Rs.15,000 from the Complainant.

The complainant alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs.15,000 for facilitating the refund due to him. CBI laid a trap and the accused was arrested while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from  the complainant.

In another case, CBI has arrested an Archivist-in-Charge of National Archives of India, Record Centre, Jaipur for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from the Complainant. The Complainant had alleged that the accused demanded bribe for tracing the old documents and providing certified copies of the same to him (Complainant). Around 6 months back, the complainant had applied to the National Archives of India, Record Centre, Jaipur for obtaining certified copies of the certain old documents pertaining to a plot of land in Rajkot. The accused himself came to Rajkot to deliver the said certified copies and to receive the bribe amount.

CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from the complainant.
