Raipur, January 29, 2024: The ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana in collaboration with Chhattisgarh Minor Forest Produce Federation (CGMFPFed) took a significant stride by organizing 3 days (29-31st January, 2024) state-level training program on Good Storage Practices of minor forest produce.
The first day of training was graced by the Chief Guest Anil Rai, MD of CGMFP Federation. Rai, in his speech, emphasized the pivotal role of effective storage practices in ensuring the quality and market value of minor forest produce and also released a training manual on Good storage practices prepared by ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana. He shared valuable thoughts on addressing challenges within the existing infrastructure and pledged the federation's commitment to improving storage facilities across the state.
Hemant Pandey, IFS (Procurement Specialist) briefed about the collaborative efforts between both the organizations. The session continued with expert presentations by Dr. Sandeep Mann, Principal Scientist at ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana, on optimal storage practices for minor forest produce.
Dr. Guru P. N. followed, covering essential principles of stacking, fumigation, and comprehensive insect management. The comprehensive training program aims to empower CGMFPFed's technical staff with the latest knowledge and techniques in safer storage of minor forest produces, which ensures the welfare of forest-dependent communities in Chhattisgarh.
