Ferozepur, July 11, 2024: The BSNL has planned to install 23 new towers in border areas to improve the signal range and provide better facilities in rural areas. This move is expected to benefit several villages situated along the Pakistan border, which have been facing phone range issues for a long time.
While divulging details, GM Kamaldeep Singh said that the BSNL has identified 32 locations in collaboration with security agencies, where new towers will be installed. “The department has sent a proposal to the Union Defense Ministry for the permission, and once approved, the towers will be installed soon”, said GM Kamaldeep.
He said that earlier due to security reasons, the range of the BSNL towers was limited to 500 meters in areas with barbed wire fencing, causing difficulties for villagers. “However, with changes in policies over the past six months, the range will now be extended to border areas”, he further added.
