Ferozepur, September 22, 2012 : A meeting of BSNL Casual and Contractor Workers Union (AITUC) was held under the chairmanship of Jarinail Singh, President, in which Boota Singh Vice President, Jaspal Singh secretary and Mohan Singh expressed their views.

Branch president Gopal Singh informed that the Union workers have staged protest to register their demands.

Jarnail Singh and Boota Singh said the workers are paid wages of Rs.3,200 to Rs.3,500 per month which is too meager in view of high prices of essential commodities now a days.

They alleged, some hanky-panky has been done in the EPF numbers of the workers which came to their notice only from Bathinda that in certain accounts either the amount of EPF has not been deposited or it has been deposited less.

Jarinal Singh, Gopal Singh and Mohan Singh said, in Faridkot Branch, the workers are being paid Rs.4,700 per month and this has been brought to the notice of BSNL authorities a number of times to end these discrepancies but they are not serious about the demands of the workers.

A deputation of Malook Singh, Balbir Singh Mirza, Balwant Babloo, Tinku, Hari Parashad, Surjit and other workers presented a  memorandum to GM Telecom to expose the misappropriation in depositing of EPF funds.
