BSP Candidate Surinder Singh Kamboj was booked for shooting a video while casting his vote at Jiwan Arain village in Guruharsahai area.
Ferozepur, June 1, 2024: BSP Candidate Surinder Singh Kamboj was booked for shooting a video while casting his vote at Jiwan Arain village in Guruharsahai area.
Rajesh Dhiman, Deputy Commissioner said that the matter had been brought to his knowledge following which while taking cognizance, the police has booked Kamboj under sections 171-F of IPC and 126, 132 of RP Act at Guruharsahai police station (FIR No. 98 Dated 01.06.24)
Earlier, the video of Kamboj had gone viral. It is pertinent to mention here that Surinder Kamboj is the father of Jalalabad MLA Jagdip Goldy Kamboj.
Overall things remained peaceful during the polling however minor incidents were reported in Zira and in the cantonment area.
The candidates of all the major candidates including Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi (BJP), Nardev Singh Mann (SAD), Jagdip Singh Kaka Brar (AAP) and Sher Singh Ghubaya (Congress), cast their votes along with their family members.
Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi BJP candidate said that he is contesting the polls for the development in the region. “I am hundred percent sure that BJP will get more than 400 seats including this segment which has been hitherto neglected by the previous MPs. My main priorities are to get the Hussainiwala border open for trade and transit, to create more employment opportunities for the youth of this area and setting up of medical college”, said Sodhi.
Nardev Singh Mann who cast his vote with his family in Guruharsahai said that SAD has not lost this seat for the last almost four decades and he is sure that he will keep the legacy of the party and his late father Jora Singh Mann.
POLLING%
The polling percentage in the Ferozepur urban which was considered stronghold of BJP, remain low at 50.10 percent however in Ferozepur Rural where SAD and AAP have a strong base was recorded at 58 percent. Besides in Guruharsahai the polling percentage remained at 61.30 percent, in Fazilka 64.94 percent, in Jalalabad 60.30 percent, in Balluana 57.50 percent, in Malout 57.10 percent, in Muktsar 57.88 percent and in Abohar 51.50 percent. Overall 57.68 percent voting had been polled.
