Buddha Dariya would become pollution-free soon: Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal
Rajya Sabha Member and renowned environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal on Friday said that Buddha Dariya would be made pollution-free as Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government was making concerted efforts to restore its historic significance by plugging pollution sources in it.
Ludhiana, October 6, 2023: Rajya Sabha Member and renowned environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal on Friday said that Buddha Dariya would be made pollution-free as Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government was making concerted efforts to restore its historic significance by plugging pollution sources in it.
The MP was interacting with the media here at village Bhaura during a book release event wherein he solicited support from the masses to turn the anti-pollution drive into a mass movement by actively participating in it. He stated that regular review meetings would be held with the officials concerned to check progress on this mammoth exercise.
This pious land is blessed with the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji who propagated the message of protecting the environment, he said adding that it is our collective responsibility to keep our natural resources including air, water, and soil from the ill-effects of pollution. The MP also urged the farmers to shun the practices of stubble burning as it was further deteriorating the environmental hazards.
Speaking on the issue of the SYL canal, Sant Seechewal stated that Punjab had already been allotted a meager amount of water and it has no extra water left to share with anyone. He pointed out that during the Monsoon season, Punjab has faced the fury of floods and none of the states lobbying for river water from Punjab had allowed the flood water to enter their territories.
Later, he released the book 'Sri Har Krishan Dheyaiye' authored by famous writer Dr. Kulwinder Kaur Minhas. This book depicted the life and journey of Sri Guru Har Krishan Ji. The MP lauded the efforts of Dr. Minhas who has dedicated her life to the welfare of children from weaker sections by providing them free-of-cost education at her academy. He stated that serving underprivileged people was one of the greatest services to humanity and expressed his wishes for Dr. Kulwinder Kaur Minhas. Sant Seechewal also Handed over stationery items to the poor children studying at her academy.
Meanwhile, Dr. Minhas thanked Sant Seechewal for joining her during her book release and promised that she would continue her social and literary work.

MP INSPECTS THE FUNCTIONING OF BAHADURKE ROAD CETP
Member Parliament Balbir Singh Seechewal today visited the common effluent treatment plant situated at Bahadurke Road wherein water of dyeing units was being treated. The MP inspected the quality of treated water and issued necessary directions concerning the proper functioning of this plant. He asked the officials to ensure no dyeing unit was discharging water without treatment at this plant which has capacity of 15 MLD.
